Anchovy sauce

I suffer from gout at times. I know what foods to avoid, for the most part. Vietnamese fish sauce is one I discovered that is really bad. It only takes a very little bit. I thought that was what did it, since that was the only thing I had eaten out of the ordinary for a couple of days. It was hard to find it on any list but when I found a figure it was confirmed--anchovy-based fish sauce is a very concentrated source of purines, especially the higher grades, which I had. Too bad. I love the taste.
