Hi peter i just read your story, online. Im 44 i got my first attack of gout somewhat. 2 years ago. First attack was in the right foot. On the ball where the big toe is. I was resorted to crawling around like an infant. Until the pain subsided? Then another attack same place months later. Then nothing for 12months. Then i got it in my left big toe, i had to take time off work because of this dibilitating disease. I couldn't wear any type of shoe. Along with the sleep deprivation that goes with all of this. Off to the docs for some more medication. LEN GOUT! It went away since then. I dont even have the ocassional beer or wine. I have changed my diet, i dont eat much red meat. I have lost 8 kgs. In the last three weeks gone from 96kgs to 88kgs. Today the gout fairy has come back to visit me in my right foot?????. Time to take indomethacin... Have you kept your gouty curse under control? If so please give me some good idea's cheers
Regards

Aaron

Hi peter, thanks for your reply i think your site is awesome.Ive been drinking cherry juice most of the week. I do have a funny feeling tuna has brought on my recent attack, this week.I took your advice and got some apple cider vinegar i have never tried that before very harsh. But im willing to give anything ago. It feels like im at the tail end of it i can walk properly with just abit of a limp. still have pain in the joint. Happy to say it has subsided. I sometimes think as the pain is, at its worst, there is others out there alot worse of than me that gets gout in the knees elbows. And where ever else some are unlucky to have it.Im always open to new findings,if i find anything out that helps i will certainly post it on this site cheers

HI terri i just had the apple cider thing.must admit its pretty harsh but a small price to pay for the relief of gout.i know where you are coming from when it comes to tuna..... ive been eating tuna all week, mixed with a couple of boiled eggs.i really do think that triggered my gout. well done to you for losing weight.Thats awesome,im actually doing the HCG diet.. Thats why i have dropped weight so fast. I must admit i feel 100% better health wise apart from my attack of our beloved gout yuk of a thing. Im not really on face book but feel free to send me an email. If you find out any other relief for gout.I agree peter's site is awesome and im sure it will benefit us all in the future.. Anything is better than relying on prescriptions. cheers to you and thankyou for your comment Aaron

Hi Aaron, sorry to hear about your gout. Losing 17 lbs in 3 weeks is too fast isn't it? They say if you lose weight fast it can trigger an attack. I applaud you on losing that much weight...that's awesome. Peter's site is the absolute best site out there. There is another site goutpal.com that talks about alkalinity and acidity of foods. He has the most thorough list of foods for that, as I bought a book at amazon.com on it and it is not as thorough.

I haven't eaten pork or beef since my first attack Jan 2011. I found a registered dietitian who put me on a 1600 cal diet and told me to exercise 1 hr/day and to lose 60-80 lbs. I was 220 and I lost 10 lbs since January.

I felt twinges nearly two weeks ago and I think it was from having tuna (mixed with cucumbers/green onions/romaine lettuce and apple cider vinegar in a flour tortilla) three lunches in a row....I was bummed out cuz it was tasty and I felt it was nutritious. It was only 3 oz of tuna also. I took one Indomethacin that night and stopped the attack.

I drink 2 liters water/day. (don't drink alcohol at all--haven't in years!)

I owe all my knowledge, and guidance to Peter and this site. I don't have insurance or anymore money for doctors. I was out of work 1 week and was at the ER, and a walk-in clinic 3 times and spent what reserve I had. So, this knowledge has really helped me. I do the apple cider vinegar cocktail and try to do it 2 times a day after meals. I found it wasn't good after cereal with milk so I watch when I take it.

Good luck and if you'd like to join me at facebook page: goutsufferers unite, I post things when I find them. Take care. Terri

Hi Aaron,

Your story sounds just like mine and many others that write their story in this site.
I have to admit, I do fall prey to the occasional gout attack still. I do rarely use Indomethicin, but only if I am overseas or away from my other safer gout fighting remedies.
Mate, I believe we must all experiment to see what works best individually. I take variations of ACV, Baking Soda,Cherry juice, cherries, and make sure I drink plenty of water.
I try and keep away from alcohol, but do have a few drinks here and there. As soon as I feel a twinge I try and attack the oncoming gout immediately. 99% of the time I stop my gout attacks, but sometimes the uric acid can build up and really give me a mean attack. You can go to the doctor and get that magic pill that stops uric acid build up and never have gout again. But like all medicines they have long and short term side effects.
Just keep experimenting, but make sure you tell your doctor what you are taking.
I will be releasing a new book soon with many uric acid free recipes to use to keep your gout under control.
regards

Peter
