Hi Nicole,
Lemon Grass has been proven to have anti-inflammatory and anti-septic benefits, especially to aid with weight loss and reducing gout and arthritis effects.
It certainly helps me with control my gout.
Lemon grass tea should only be used if you are not pregnant or taking other medicines as it is known to affect people on medication. So seek advice from your doctor before taking this.
The tea I make is by cutting up 3 big lemongrass bulbs, using mainly the white bulb area, then I steep them in boiling water for 10 minutes and then siphon the water out and drink it.
You could also add ginger to this for a stronger brew.
I would suggest only 500ml ( 17oz ) a day of this tea, plus you should rink it as fresh as possible.
Other recipes boil the lemon grass for 10 minutes then sit if for 20 minutes then siphon and drink.
It has a diuretic effect so make sure you are prepared for this.
